West Midlands Safari Park Wedding

West Midlands Safari Park Wedding

I have never shot a wedding at West Midlands Safari Park WeddingBewdleyKidderminster before but after shooting Laura & Jaybee’s last weekend its massively become a favourite venue of mine.

I first ‘met’ Laura and Jean Baptiste aka Jaybee over FaceTime last year as they were living in France at the time. Jaybee is a Professional Rugby player who at the time was playing for French club Nevers who he signed to in 2016. He has just been signed to Yorkshire Carnegie which saw them moving back to the UK this year. They’ve had quite the year with doing most of the wedding planning from France as well as moving back.

I was over the moon that they decided to book me for their amazing day and boy was it amazing!!! I literally burst with excitement from the minute I drove up to Spring Grove House at West Midlands Safari Park. The Manor House was literally right next to the theme park. All of a sudden I was seeing Jaybee sitting on a Giraffe.

Laura and her Bridal party were getting ready in the Stateroom when I arrived, music playing was from my favourite film at the time The Greatest Showman so I was had a little sing along. The weather was beautiful and the excitement for the day was palpable.

Laura and Jaybee said their vows in front of their children Bella and Fin and their friends and family in a room filled with safari animals and a band that were incredible. Afterwards we went into the beautiful back garden where drinks and canapes were served. During this time I took the Bridal party down to the theme park where we got to ride on the Carousel and do a little shoot. It was so much fun. On the way back Jaybee played Hook a Duck for Laura who was rather excited. The whole day we were all totally buzzing.

Before the speeches Laura and Jay along with their Bridal party did a little performance from Beauty & The Beast – it was fantastic and everyone loved it.

The speeches were absolutely beautiful. Jaybee’s words for his stepson Fin were so lovely and so full of emotion that there was hardly a dry eye in the house. He thanked Fin for accepting him and in turn becoming his best friend. Jaybee’s Best Man Mikey (who spent the whole day wearing two different shoes) speech was fantastic. You knew he was going to say something hilarious and completely embarrassing for Jay because Mikey would start laughing before finally saying what he wrote. I particularly loved the video at the end from the stag do where they arranged a fake arrest of Jay.

After the speeches we had an animal encounter in the shape of a cockroach, pigme hedgehog and a chinchilla. I dared Jay to hold the cockroach and to be fair he did. At first he was seriously creeped out but then soon got used to him. I was even more proud when Laura gave it a go.

We all went for a walk around the park in the evening before it closed and saw the penguins and bat enclosure before making our way back up to the house for the first dance. This was held in the Cellar bar which was decked out in twinkle lights and animal prints. It was seriously cool

I cant thank Laura and Jay enough for choosing me to document their day. Its a day that will always stay with me.

Big shout out to Laura May for second shooting for me and genuinely being amazing
